Bitter Nail Polish
Around 30% of children between the ages of 7 - 10 are consistently biting their nails out of pure habit. What's probably more surprising is that around 40% of teenagers are through to be chronic nail biterse too! Whilst it may seem like a little harmless problem that he / she will eventually grow out of, it can actually be quite a serious issue.
Did you know that chronic nail biting can lead to infection? These infections if left untreated can cause whitlows and be pretty damn painful! No need to worry though,there's a number of things you can do to sort it! One of them is through application of bitter nail polish. As you can imagine, the bitter nail polish is in fact bitter nail polish that is applied to the nails of the child and when it comes into contact with the mouth, it tastes very bitter.
The bitter nail polish has the added benefit of stopping thumb suckers too! Considering that you're paying for a small bottle of liquid, the product doesn't come cheap, but is pretty much the most effective thing you can buy for nail biting prevention. You can expect to pay somewhere around the $15 mark for a standard bottle of bitter juice!
